SEM Welcomes Jason Niermann as Veteran Services Coordinator and Advisor

July 20, 2018

Please join us in welcoming Jason Nierman as the University of Idaho's new Military and Veteran Services coordinator and advisor, the position previously held by Dan Button.

Before arriving here, Nierman was a professor of Military Science at Weber State University as an active-duty U.S. Army officer. He retired from the Army this summer as a lieutenant colonel after more than 23 years of service. Jason has deep connections to U of I – he received his bachelor's degree in environmental science in 1998 and was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Army after completing ROTC here. He also holds master's degrees in education and management and leadership.

"Jason brings the education, skills and experience we need in the Veteran Services office to help our student-veterans and family members attending the University of Idaho," said Barry Johnson, director of Military Student Services and Partnerships. "I am very happy that Jason and his family chose to come back to where his career began, proudly serving our veterans now that he has taken off his military uniform."

Nierman’s office is located at the Veterans Center on the third floor of the Idaho Commons, Room 305. His phone number is 208-885-7979 and email is
