Julie Amador Awarded Top 30 Under 40

The Kootenai County Young Professionals group in Coeur d'Alene announced their Top 30 Under 40 Winner — Julie Amador.
Julie Amador, Ph.D. is a professor of mathematics education at the University of Idaho Coeur d'Alene. She earned a doctorate in mathematics education at the University Of Nevada and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Indiana University in Bloomington before moving to Idaho. Julie is a former elementary school teacher and middle school mathematics instructional coach. Her current research investigates mathematical cognition with a focus on the intersection of students' mathematical thinking, teacher noticing, and the integration of technology during mathematics instruction. She has published research articles and book chapters on mathematics education and regularly presents her scholarly work at both national and international conferences. Julie currently directs funded projects from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Idaho State Department of Education, and Idaho State Board of Education, totaling more than $1 million annually.
In the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho community, Julie actively volunteers for several non-profits, including the Board of Directors for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the The Lady d'Alenes. She also volunteers for local political campaigns and is a member of Leadership Coeur d'Alene- CDA Chamber of Commerce Class of 2017 and Coeur d'Alene Rotary.
Julie has been married to her husband, Paul Amador, Coeur d'Alene's state legislator, for 13 years and recently welcomed their son, Peter, to the world. Julie enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with family.
