Researchers Publish Findings About Retirement Investment Decisions

November 14, 2018

Who can make an informed retirement investment decision? Research by U of I associate professor of management and human resources Yun Chung and associate professor of finance Young Park explores this question. The Journal of Consumer Affairs recently published their study, "What I Know, What I Think I Know and Whom I Know: Influence on Retirement Investment Decisions." Chung and Park found that individuals who are not only knowledgeable of financial investment but also have strong networks with financially knowledgeable persons are likely to increase equity allocation and improve investment decision quality that ensures individuals' retirement wellbeing. They also found that the effect on equity allocation is likely to be reinforced only when individuals who are financially knowledgeable believe that they are.
