The Faculty Senate meets weekly on Tuesdays during the academic year to discuss and act on policy matters pertaining to the immediate government of the university.

Faculty Senate Talking Points: March 26, 2019

  • Restructure of Faculty Secretary Position. Senate approved the restructure of the faculty secretary position. The proposal will reduce the faculty secretary from a 50 percent to a 25 percent appointment and move support of the U of I’s policy process from the faculty secretary to a new Policy Coordinator.
  • Parking. Rebecca Couch, Director of Parking and Transportation Services updated senators on upcoming changes in the campus parking and transportation system. The changes are detailed on the Parking and Transportation Services webpage.

  • March 29 — Stephanie Hampton, division director for the National Science Foundation's Division of Environmental Biology, will give a talk titled, "Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Sciences – Opportunities at the National Science Foundation," noon to 1 p.m. PDT, IRIC 305

  • April 3 — Women’s Leadership Conference
  • April 4 — NEH Grant Application Workshop, 8:30-12:30, Vandal Ballroom. Registration required.
  • April 6-7 — 20th Annual Tutxinmepu Powwow, Kibbie Dome.
  • April 8 — Last day to submit proposed FSH changes to Faculty Secretary.
  • April 10 — CETL Faculty Spotlight featuring Michael Kroth & Davin Carr-Chellman:Preparing Profound Learners: Practices for Deepening Lifelong Learning, 10 a.m. PDT/11 a.m. MDT, Educ 341, Register at CETL
  • April 15 — Nominations for Honorary Degrees for December 2019 Commencement due. Nomination instructions are in FSH 4930. Nominations must be submitted to provost@uidaho.edu.
  • April 15 — Names of new senators must be finalized and reported to facsec@uidaho.edu.
  • April 16 — Last Senate meeting to approve FSH policies for inclusion on the spring UFM Agenda
  • April 29 — U of I Undergraduate Research Symposium, Pitman Center from 11:30-1:30 PDT.
  • May 1 — University Faculty Meeting (location information tba): A quorum will be required at this meeting to pass changes to the Faculty Constitution and Faculty Senate Bylaws related to the faculty secretary re-structure — please plan to attend!
