The Faculty Senate meets weekly on Tuesdays during the academic year to discuss and act on policy matters pertaining to the immediate government of the university.

Faculty Senate Talking Points: April 9, 2019

  • The provost reported on the status of the Strategic Hiring Plan. He will be meeting with deans to discuss the reallocation of faculty positions.
  • VP Foisy reported to senate regarding the U of I’s proposal to provide bridge financing for the arena project from U of I cash resources.
  • Vice Provost Lawrence, Prof. Patrick Hrdlicka and Kim Salisbury reported to senate on faculty compensation. Two open forums at 11:30 a.m., April 10 and 12:30 p.m., April 11 are being held for faculty in the Administration Building Auditorium. A new web portal is being launched so faculty can see how their individual target salary is calculated. Slides and a detailed FAQ document are available.
