Faculty Senate Talking Points: April 2, 2019

April 03, 2019

The Faculty Senate meets weekly on Tuesdays during the academic year to discuss and act on policy matters pertaining to the immediate government of the university.

Faculty Senate Talking Points: April 2, 2019

  • Revision of FSH 3320 - Regarding evaluation of administrators. The revisions clarify the confidentiality of feedback provided by faculty and staff and provide for faculty to seek review of an administrator by petition.
  • Revision of FSH 3420 - Regarding faculty salaries. The proposal is a complete revision removing out of date language, adding the new market compensation approach, and providing guidelines for the determination of performance compensation.
  • Introduction of Revision of FSH 1565 Regarding Faculty Ranis and Responsibilities. A proposal from the Term/Tenure-Track Task Force (QTT) was introduced to Senate to seek faculty feedback from across campus. The proposal would be a major revision of FSH 1565. Interested faculty should consider three documents on the Senate agendas page: the QTT Explanation Memo, Summary Sheet and draft proposed FSH 1565. The proposal is currently pending before the Faculty Affairs Committee (FAC). Feedback to senators, FAC members and the Faculty Secretary is strongly encouraged.
