Naval Science Curriculum

The Naval Science Program consists of approximately 20 semester hours of professional naval courses covering subjects such as engineering, navigation, military organization, and leadership. These courses are intended to be taken in conjunction with courses in pursuit of a degree and emphasize academic success. All uniforms and naval science textbooks are provided. Marine Corps Option: Students taking this option enroll in specialized courses on Marine Corps subjects during their junior and senior years and participate in Officers Candidate School at the Marine Corps Development and Education Center in Quantico, Virginia, during the summer following their junior year.

Nursing Option: Nurse Option students assigned to the University of Idaho will complete their pre-nursing and Naval Science requirements at the University of Idaho during their first two years and then apply to Lewis and Clark State College’s advanced nursing program during the spring of their sophomore year where, if accepted, they will attend their final two years of schooling. Nurse Option students assigned to Washington State University will complete their pre-nursing curriculum and Naval Science requirements while enrolled at the WSU Pullman campus during their first two years in the Program and will apply for admission to the WSU School of Nursing in Spokane, WA during their sophomore year. If accepted, they will complete their final two years of nursing school on the Spokane campus.
