A more entrepreneurial university

  • Expand executive education
  • Increase Professional Mechanical Engineering degree
  • ROTC scholarship recipients
  • Joint ventures with WSU – where does it make sense?
  • Start a med school
  • Distance certificate programs – online courses, expand summer courses & online classes – including summer offerings at branch campuses
  • Confront sister units on land grant role – we can go anywhere with teaching and learning
  • Connect with Business on energy education
  • Connect better VIEW and COE – Expo (Sr. Design)
  • Create research expo w/stakeholders as audience
  • Strengthen regular presence throughout the state, employment retraining – teach entrepreneurial ideas internally
  • Willingness to change our offered majors – don’t just cut majors – make them current/real (change them to the market for our students and our world).
  • Private/public instruction
  • Indigenous center on STEM Research & Native American Graduate education
  • Develop integrated capstone courses with development of project as goal
  • Visible online electronic course offerings
  • Non credit workshop in higher education
  • Student involvement in service centers through class activities
  • Professional engineers need continuing education to keep licenses (new law). Use distance learning to provide this around the state & region (also teachers & nurses)
  • Increased emphasis on funding agencies that may have awards for basic or entrepreneurial work
  • More grad student recruitment to faculty research interests
