Erin Tomlin comes to the University of Idaho College of Law as the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs in Moscow after practicing law for a decade in both the private and public sector throughout the Palouse region in Idaho and Washington. In practicing law, she served as the City of Moscow Prosecutor and also as a Public Defender in neighboring counties, and as a Partner at Westberg Roepke Moore, PLLC, where she focused on civil matters. Dean Tomlin’s experience in higher education has always been in service to public land-grant institutions. At the University of Idaho, she served as the university wide Case Manager for the Dean of Students Office; as an Associate General Counsel with a portfolio focus on Student Affairs in the Office of General Counsel; and as an adjunct instructor at the College of Law in Moscow teaching Domestic Violence and the Law and Lawyering Process in past academic terms.At Washington State University, she taught Trial Skills and coached their undergraduate Mock Trial Team.
Dean Tomlin graduated from the University of Idaho in 2006 with a humanities degree and has completed coursework in the University of Idaho’s Public Administration Master’s Program. In 2012, she graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law earning a J.D. with two emphases in Native American Law and Litigation and Appropriate Dispute Resolution. While in law school, she was a student officer in the Native American Law Student Association (NALSA) and competed nationally in their 2012 Moot Court competition and was a member of the D. Craig Lewis Trial Team.
She is passionate about serving her community and credits the University of Idaho College of Law’s commitment to pro bono service for helping cultivate that passion when she was a law student. Dean Tomlin lives in Moscow with her family and their two dogs, Riggins and Booker. In addition to supporting students, she loves to travel, create art, attend Vandal athletic events, and explore Idaho’s backcountry on annual summer rafting trips.
