Sunil Ramalingam is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Idaho College of Law and oversees the externship and pro bono programs. Prior to joining the college’s faculty he was the university’s Contract Review Officer in the Office of Research and Economic Development where he negotiated grants and contracts for research at the university and also worked on export control issues.
Mr. Ramalingam earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Idaho in 1997. For several years he was a solo practitioner in Moscow specializing in criminal defense and was one of Latah County’s public defenders. His professional experience also includes three years as a deputy prosecutor for Nez Perce County and five years as an associate in a small Lewiston law firm.
Prior to moving to Idaho, Mr. Ramalingam lived in Malaysia, India, and California, where he completed bachelor degrees at the University of California, Davis and California State University, Sacramento. Before and during his law school years he was a smokejumper for the BLM based out of Boise. He lives in Moscow with his wife and two children.
