What advice would you offer to incoming 1L Law Students?
TAKE A BREAK! Give yourself at least one day of the week that has no law school in it if you can. You will hear me say this metaphor many more times but, it's the only thing that truly prepared me for this journey. The first year of law school is like drinking out of five fire hydrants at the same time. It's intense, it can become overwhelming, and it's exhausting not just mentally, but emotionally and physically as well. BUT, if you allow yourself some proper brain breaks during the week, you will get through it. Whether it's going for a hike, a drive, or sitting down in front of the TV and binging Netflix for eight hours, make sure you find a couple of healthy coping mechanisms to help you manage the craziness that is your first year. And remember....you're not alone!
Why did you choose the U of I College of Law?
I chose U of I out of a stroke of serendipity. I decided to set up a visit the same weekend I was coming out to Spokane to see Gonzaga since U of I wasn't too far away, even though I had never been to Idaho before. I ended up falling in love with the town of Moscow and was only met with kindness and grace during the law school visit. I applied the second I got back to the hotel and here we are, almost a year and a half later!
Give one “fun fact” about yourself
I used to play soccer against Mallory Pugh (Forward for the US Women's National Soccer Team) in high school (and she was far better than me)
