Bio
Hi there! My name is Malori Basye. I graduated from the University of Idaho with a B.S. in Psychology. While completing my undergraduate degree I researched in a laboratory that studied the effects of mindfulness on body movements. After I graduated, I rolled right into the big adventure of law school. I completed my first year of law school at the Moscow campus and transferred to the Boise campus for my 2L year. I am so lucky to get to experience both campuses! When I am not at school I like to draw or paint and have recently taken up playing racquetball.
What advice would you offer to incoming 1L Law Students?
The best piece of advice I can give is to remember to take time to do "non-law" things each day. Law school will quickly become all-encompassing in your life. Many of your days will be filled with reading, discussing, and studying the law. Although you will be spending a ton of time on your law studies, don't forget your other passions in life. Spend an hour or two doing something non-law-related each day. Maybe that is exercise, art, or calling your family and friends. . .whatever! Just make sure you do it. I promise that you will be a better law student if you learn how to balance your studies and personal wellbeing early on. With that being said, do not be afraid to reach out and ask for help. Utilize your support systems in and out of school.
