Why Idaho?
The University of Idaho College of Law is a solid local and affordable school that feeds into the surrounding states well. It is also a peaceful place. The reciprocity system it is developing is advantageous for affordable education, and then for feeding into major marketplaces – Seattle, Boise, Salt Lake City, Spokane, etc. or anything smaller of interest.
What advice would you offer to incoming 1Ls?
There’s a lot, but in the interest of not spouting off endless unsolicited advice, I’d say have a general sense of what you want to accomplish and have tentative goals, for the next 5 to 10 years. Law degrees have a lot of value, and there is a lot you can do with them – there’s many different fields of law, including alternative paths people can take with a law degree (government, business, etc.). Law school is a lot of work, but certainly manageable, and personally I believe it to be more rewarding when you have a tentative direction you want to move in, because you get to see the fruits of your labor.
Favorite Moscow recommendation?
Local Hiking, and visit some of the reservoirs and lakes.
