About Vandal Gaming Convention

Vandal Gaming Convention (VGC) happens once a year at University of Idaho (spring) and over 800 people attend this free, high-energy entertainment extravaganza held at the Bruce M. Pitman Center on the U of I Moscow campus. It is a day-long gaming and social event.

There is something for everyone with over 25 different gaming and activity areas. It's open to college and high school students and the general public. Free admission, snacks, prizes and fun await those who come!

Sign up for the VCG email list.

For general questions about the event, registration, sponsorship/donation opportunities or hosting a game/activity, please contact VCG event organizers at vgc@uidaho.edu or chat with us on Discord.

Event Information

VGC began simply. The passion of one U of I Office of Information Technology (OIT) manager Darren Kearney and one U of I student, now U of I grad and OIT employee Jacob Flynn, has helped grow VGC into the largest gaming, entertainment event on the Palouse.

The first VGC event, known then as "Vandal Overnight Games" was held in Fall 2014 in a few rooms and on a modest budget drawing just over 350 participants. Now, the event draws over 800 attendees of all ages, backgrounds and gaming interests, the event has been renamed to Vandal Gaming Convention, to better reflect the purpose of the event.

VGC reoccurs each year for the community to enjoy. U of I's OIT Department hosts and coordinates the event. The co-founders' original vision remains the same which is to offer an intimate, inclusive and free social event where students and the general community can come together to explore games, talk, connect and just have fun.

From its inception, U of I campus, senior leadership and area businesses partnered and gave OIT and the VGC Committee its full support — allowing the event to evolve and grow.

Now, the event spreads out over 100,000 square feet and offers over 25 different gaming and activity areas.

For general questions about the event, registration, sponsorship/donation opportunities or hosting a game/activity, please contact VGC event organizers at vgc@uidaho.edu or chat with us on Discord.
