First-Generation Student Pursues Her Dreams
Arely Ayala and her twin sister had dreamt of becoming the first members in their family to attend college, and support from donors has turned this into a reality.
“Receiving financial support through scholarships has allowed me to be an example and give hope to other first-generation students that college is a possibility,” Ayala explained.
After working with To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit organization that raises awareness about mental health issues, she was inspired to enroll in a master’s program for counseling, which wouldn’t be possible without financial aid.
“Thank you for allowing me this great privilege and for giving me the experience to pursue my dreams,” Ayala said.
