Plant-Based Cooking & Nutrition Classes
A plant-based diet is a lifestyle centering around plant-based foods such as fruit, vegetables, beans, lentils, nuts and seeds. This diet may look different for each individual, from a full-blown vegetarian to someone who would just like to incorporate more fruits and vegetables to their current diet These classes typically are offered in a series.

Grocery Store Tours
Have a group that would like to participate in a grocery store tour led by a Registered Dietitian? Walk through the store and learn how to find healthy food choices, where to get the best buy, and how to navigate the store. Contact Jackie Amende to learn more about upcoming scheduled grocery store tours and/or to learn more about these tours. Eating Healthy on a Budget and Plant-Based Grocery Store Tours are two different tours that are regularly offered.

Cheap Eats: Eating Healthy on a Budget
Do you think that healthy eating requires an investment in both time and money? This class is here to prove you wrong by teaching you how to use your pantry and refrigerator basics to your advantage how to stretch your food dollar, and will provide an opportunity to see and sample some quick and easy meals that are healthy and nutritious. Diabetes Prevention Program
The Diabetes Prevention Program is a year-long program developed specifically to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. It is designed for people with prediabetes or who are at-risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The Diabetes Prevention Program is a result of a successful research study conducted by the National Institute of Health which found that this program can decrease participants' risks of developing type 2 diabetes by 58 percent. This program specifically focuses on weight loss and physical activity while learning new habits and gaining new skills. Please email Jackie Amende for more information.
Dining with Diabetes
Dining with Diabetes is a cooking school and nutrition education program designed for people with diabetes and their family members or caregivers. In a series of four classes, cooking demonstrations will help you learn healthy techniques to use in your own kitchen. The program includes sampling healthy foods and special guest appearances, plus a follow-up reunion class held at a later date. Please email Jackie Amende for more information.

Master Food Safety Advisor Program
The Master Food Safety Advisor Program teaches individuals how to safely preserve food products. This program covers a variety of food preservation topics, which includes dehydration, freezing, pickling, canning and more. After completion of the classes, participants contribute 30 hours of volunteer service to provide reliable, research-based food preservation information to others in their community.
Anyone is welcome to apply to participate in the program, regardless of food preservation experience. A limited number of applicants are accepted each year on a first come, first served basis.
