Kevin Chang has over 15 years of professional experience in the areas of project management and design, traffic safety and operations, and transportation engineering and planning. Prior to his current position as a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Idaho, Chang was a traffic engineer with the King County Department of Transportation in Seattle, Wash., where he supervised pedestrian and school safety programs, led neighborhood transportation planning efforts, and managed the King County Traffic Management Center. He is a registered professional engineer, has taught coursework at the University of Washington and University of Idaho, and has published and presented at over forty-five national and international conferences. Chang is the current chair of the Institute of Transportation Engineers’ (ITE) Transportation Education Committee, a member of the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Safety Management Committee, chair of the TRB School Transportation Subcommittee, and past president of the Washington State Section of ITE. He has extensive experience in workforce development and regularly leads transportation engineering webinars for the American Society of Civil Engineers. In his spare time, Chang has been a strong advocate for civic engagement and has volunteered his time by serving as a board member for several non-profit community organizations. Change is the ASCE and ITE faculty advisor and has been recognized as a multiple recipient of the UI Alumni Awards for Excellence as the most inspiring faculty mentor selected individually by the top forty graduating students each year.
