Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences Curriculum
The Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences bachelor’s degree trains students to work with various populations (athletes to individuals with chronic disease to entire communities) and provides each student the knowledge and skills to have a successful career in Exercise, Sport, and Health Sciences. Our unique program offers a strong core set of classes that prepares students to become proficient in the knowledge and skills necessary for graduate school or a career in health, fitness, rehabilitation, or higher education.

A movement and leisure science master’s degree is a one-year program (non-thesis option) or a two-year program (thesis option), depending on the student’s career goals.
- 30 credits minimum to graduate with a master’s in exercise, sport, and health sciences
- Thesis, internship, or comprehensive exam options
- Maximum of 10 credits for thesis hours
- Maximum of 5 credits for PEP 599 (research)
- >Minimum of 18 credits at 500 level or above
The University of Idaho’s doctoral program in exercise science is designed to prepare student’s research, teaching and service skills for positions in academia. The program has three cognate tracks in exercise physiology, sport and exercise psychology and biomechanics. Candidates will engage in practical experiences conducting research, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, developing consulting skills, and having immersion experiences that further refine skills and develop practical experience. Preference is given to candidates who can demonstrate research interests that correspond with program faculty members’ research in healthy active lifestyles.
