Jennie Eva Hughes Multicultural Student Leadership Award
In 1899, Jennie Eva Hughes became the first African-American student to graduate from the University of Idaho. This award, named in her honor, is given annually to students who have shown genuine concern and interest toward multicultural issues and worked on behalf of multiculturalism on campus.
Eligibility & Nominations
This award is available to all undergraduates. Students may be nominated by faculty, administrators, staff or other students. Students can also nominate themselves. The award is part of the ASUI Student Achievement Awards in Leadership and Service to recognize individuals who have made contributions to student activities, campus and community life.
Nominations will be accepted in early Spring 2023.

UNITY Service Medallion
UNITY as an umbrella multicultural student organization which works in partnership with the Office of Multicultural Affairs to address concerned with diversity, access, inclusion, and benefits greatly from the passion, dedication, vision, and commitment of many individuals who work tirelessly in many capacities.
The UNITY Service Medallion recognizes positive contributions from students, faculty, staff, and/or community members that enhance and advance UNITY vision and goals on and off campus. The Service Medallions are only a small gesture to acknowledge, celebrate, and honor those individuals and their contributions.
Eligibility & Nominations
This award is given to faculty or staff that have worked at the University for at least a full year and/or a community member that has been on the Palouse for a year.
This award is also given to full time undergraduate/graduate students part of a UNITY organization and have been active for at least one semester with a minimum cumulative 2.7 GPA.
The medallion is generally awarded during the OMA/UNITY End of the Year Banquet held at the end of the spring semester.
