University of Idaho 14th Annual Advising Symposium

Bruce M. Pitman Center (SUB) Second Floor
The Pivot: Moments that Matter
During this conference we will explore pivotal moments as experienced by both students and advisors. This includes those difficult conversations where students discover that they need to pivot in their thinking about their academic directions, those times when, as advisors, we realize that a conversation needs to pivot and move in a completely different direction, and those personal pivotal moments when a new perspective changes our approach to our practice. We intend to address how to recognize pivotal moments, approaches for handling a variety of moments that matter, and explore how these moments affect our practice.
This one-day conference is geared toward faculty and staff who advise students at community colleges, colleges, and universities throughout the northwest.
For questions, please email the Symposium Executive Committee.
