Peter Shelley has studied piano at the University of California, Santa Cruz with Mary Jane Cope, and music theory at the University of Washington. He has presented research on American minimalism and on the composer Fanny Hensel in Belgium, Wales, and the US. His interests at the piano include Hensel, Teresa Carreno, Lili Boulanger and Grazyna Bacewicz. Peter is pursuing a master's degree in piano pedagogy and performance under the supervision of Eneida Larti.
