Graduate Student Trio trIaD to compete Nationally
Three students from the University of Idaho’s Lionel Hampton School of Music achieved international recognition for their performance. Sarah Chae (flute), Arthur Sagami (saxophone) and Nicholas Zollo (piano), all graduate students who form the chamber ensemble trIaD, received third prize at the Enkor International Music Competition and have advanced to the final round of the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition after winning the Northwest Division at the University of Montana in January. trIaD was formed in 2014 and aims to promote new and existing works for this unique instrument combination. They have commissioned and will be premiering works by William Whitley, Caleb Parker and Nick Mitchell in Spring 2016. trIaD has worked with UI faculty members Vanessa Sielert, Leonard Garrison, Javier Rodriguez and Rajung Yang, and are currently coached by Shawn Copeland and Jovanni-Rey de Pedro. Hear trIaD in concert 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 27 at in the Haddock Performance Hall.
