Idaho Bach Festival

Join us for an evening of LHSOM faculty solos and ensembles by Johann Sebastian Bach and other composers of the Baroque era. This will include selections from Bach’s Cello Suites performed by LHSOM cello professor Miranda Wilson and fiddling tunes by Bach’s Scottish contemporaries, courtesy of LHSOM composition professor and violinist Max Wolpert. The evening will conclude with a performance of Bach’s cathartic Chaconne in D Minor for Solo Violin, performed by LHSOM violin professor Giselle Hillyer. The grand finale to the 2023 Idaho Bach Festival is a concert honoring the upcoming retirement of Distinguished Professor Leonard Garrison, a leading American flutist and longtime flute professor of LHSOM. Every composition on the program features a prominent flute solo, including Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 and the comic masterpiece The Coffee Cantata. Counts as MusX140 Recital Attendance "Faculty/Guest Artist."
Founded in 2011, the Idaho Bach Festival is set in the beautiful architectural and natural landscapes of the University of Idaho and the Palouse.
