David Neves
At 28 years old, David Neves is one of the most active and exciting trumpet players in New York and Boston’s jazz scene. Neves was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, he was chosen to be a member of the prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute. Through this program, David had the privilege of studying and performing with some of the most accomplished and well-known jazz musicians in the world, including Wayne Shorter, Dave Liebman, Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano and George Garzone. Neves then attended the prestigious New England Conservatory where he received his Master’s of Music in Jazz Performance.
A world-class musician, David’s talents have sent him all over the globe to venues such as the Tokyo Jazz Festival, Torino Jazz Festival, Panama Jazz Festival and the Newport Jazz Festival. In 2010, Neves traveled to Sydney, Australia, where he won first prize in the International Trumpet Guild’s Jazz Solo Competition.
In February 2014, David independently released Progress Report, his first full-length album as a leader and composer. This project debuts intriguing, all-original music, and David is joined by some of the finest young musicians in Boston and New York.
A recent recipient of the prestigious Artist Diploma in Jazz Studies at the Juilliard School under the direction of Wynton Marsalis, Greg Gisbert and Ben Wolfe; David is currently performing and teaching in the New York, and Boston areas.
