Bruno Calvo Anillo
Bruno Calvo Anillo, originally from Cádiz (Andalucía, Spain), is an Amsterdam-based trumpet player with an emerging voice in the improvised music scene in Europe. He comes from a jazz background but has developed a personal sound influenced by other styles such as classical and flamenco music. In 2012, he graduated from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) in Barcelona as a jazz performance student and in this last year finished his jazz Master's degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Over the past few years, Bruno has taken part in master classes and private lessons with Ambrose Akinmusire, Avishai Cohen and Jerry Bergonzi. He has performed with Terell Stafford, Dick Oatts, Joris Roelofs, Ben van Gelder as well as in well-known venues and festivals such as the Bimhuis and the North Sea Jazz Festival. Recently his own project, the Bruno Calvo Quartet, recorded what will be his first album as a leader which will be released in upcoming months.
