The work of the five-person Distinction in International Service Award (DISA) Committee takes place during the spring term of a given year. The committee is comprised of a representative of each of the four classes then affiliated with the Martin Institute, all working under the direction of a student chairperson. They review the work of internationally-focused nongovernmental organizations in the Pacific Northwest, create a rubric for evaluating them, and then select that year’s DISA recipient. They then host a representative from that organization during a campus visit and present the award. The DISA has been given annually since 2011.
