About the Program
This program is a joint offering through the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and the College of Education.

The Early Childhood Development and Education major (ECDE) is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge base of early childhood educators for their important work with young children. The Blended Teacher Certificate degree program offers students an unprecedented level of comprehensive skill opportunities needed to promote the learning and development of young children birth through eight years old.

This rigorous major is offered in conjunction with the University of Idaho College of Education. Students learn the fundamentals of human development so that they understand how children grow and learn. Students learn how to provide activities and environments that support each child’s unique intellectual, social, and personal developmental needs, as well as how to make and interpret formal and informal assessments.

Upon graduation, graduates will be eligible for the Idaho Early Childhood Education/Early Childhood Special Education (ECE/ECSE) Blended Teacher Certification.
