Pitching is like telling a good story. A solid pitch should be short and sweet, but filled with just enough detail to get a judge’s attention. You can’t convince an investor to put a million bucks into your idea in a couple of minutes — so don’t try; instead, give them a little ‘tease’ of what you are working on and get a commitment for a follow-up meeting to satisfy their curiosity and pitch your full plan. During the Idaho Pitch, you will have the chance to distill your great idea down to a couple of minutes and speak with a dozen or more potential investors.
A good pitch conveys your idea, why it is important, and should contain most of these:
- A Pain Statement.What is the problem you are solving? Without a problem, there likely isn't a reason for your idea.
- Who has the Pain? Identify your target market, and how can you reach them. What is your business model you created to reach your target?
- What is your Solution? What is the value in the project you are offering them? Explain how your idea solves their problems.
- Who is your Competition? What are your competitive advantages over them?
- What is your call to action? What is it that you want from your target? A follow up discussion for specifics, an investment pitch or a referral to someone that will make your idea a reality.
Remember, a pitch isn’t a speech, it’s a conversation. Engage in one with multiple investors at the Idaho Pitch!
