Sounding the Depths: Exploring Soil Stories
With a new U of I facility, the Deep Soil Ecotron, researchers are set to go deeper than ever before to understand the mysteries that lie in the earth. Bringing columns of soil up to the surface for scientific scrutiny also brings up the deep connection humans have to soil beneath our feet — not only through science and agriculture but also through myth, stories and song.
Join us for an evening that brings sciences and humanities together around themes of deep soil: an interdisciplinary panel that looks at soil through the lens of science, music, English, film, architecture and anthropology. The evening will include a musical performance and hosted wine and cheese.
