Plant Pathology
The Plant Pathology program is focused on diseases affecting sugar beets and other crops such as dry beans, corn and alfalfa. The program supports Idaho growers by identifying existing and new diseases and by educating growers about their cultural, biological and chemical control. Basis for these recommendations are fungicide trials as well as studies trying to explain interactions between environmental conditions and plant pathogens. Another important component of this program is the development of integrated pest management practices for the control of foliar and soil borne pathogens to ensure sustainable and environmentally friendly production.
