IVIS Imaging Service Center

The IVIS Imaging Service Center provides access to fluorescence and luminescence imaging technology through supervised use of the IVIS Lumina III. The Lumina III can be used for imaging of living prokaryotes (e.g., bacterial plates, films), invertebrates (e.g., nematodes, insects), fungi, plants and vertebrates (e.g., fish, mammals, birds) and ex vivo tissue specimens. Some examples from the published literature are provided below.

Have a question or want to schedule a training to use the Lumina III?

If you are interested in using the IVIS Imaging Service Center, you will need to complete the online training and schedule in-person training. Once training is completed, we can schedule your approved experimental protocol that is consistent with IVIS Lumina III capabilities and image analysis. To inquire about training and using the IVIS Lumina III, please contact Shirley Luckhart, Center for Health in the Human Ecosystem, and Kiah Stewart, U of I Lab Animal Research Facility.

Technology Access Grants (TAGs) available

Applications are now open for CHHE IVIS Imaging Service Center Technology Access Grants (TAG). CHHE will fund up to five (5) TAGs for U of I investigators interested in using this facility for experimental research with fluorescence and bioluminescence imaging technology, through supervised use of the IVIS Lumina III. TAG support for up to $1,200 per project will be awarded for hours of training provided by the service center, for use of the IVIS Lumina III and for data analysis completed on service center computers. U of I investigators, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and other research group members are eligible to apply.

Applications are now open. Applications will be reviewed starting April 15, 2019, and continue until five TAGs are awarded. We anticipate the projects will be implemented during the period from May 15, 2019 through July 31, 2020.
