Third-year Master of Fine Arts candidate Reinaldo Gil Zambrano gave printmaking a modern twist by organizing the first Vandal Steam Roller Project. He modeled the event off a similar project at the University of Montana, where steamroller printing has become a tradition during homecoming festivities.
The Vandal Print Guild used a steamroller to print original large-scale works of art created by students at UI, Washington State University and Whitman College. “My intention was to bring people together to celebrate communal art making by doing something a little different,” Gil Zambrano said. “I want to get people excited about making art!”
