The Past is Female
History has always been focused primarily on those who hold power in society. While women have been often overlooked in the history books, it is female artists who lose the most. By eliminating the expression of female artists, their voices, reactions, and identities are wiped from the education of the population. When identities are erased, future generations experience a lack of self-awareness and power in themselves. I found myself experiencing these exact moments and feelings as I navigated my way through college as a female artist. Not knowing why I had such a lack of confidence in myself, I turned to the women of the past, and in them I found a further understanding of who I truly am.
