The Prichard Art Gallery is a leader in the presentation of contemporary visual arts within the Northwest. The gallery programs seek to encourage experimentation through the support presentation of new works by emerging and established artists.
The Prichard seeks to be the premier venue for the presentation of contemporary art in the state of Idaho. We continue to improve and expand our organizational capacity to achieve our vision. Facilities, personnel and technologies renewal to evolve toward realizing our vision.
The Prichard values creativity above all else. We celebrate the achievements of the artists. In supporting the vision of the artist we create the best possible environment for the presentation of their work.
The gallery opened in its current location in the fall of 1986 and is the result of an extensive remodeling project. University of Idaho Associate Professor of Architecture, William Bowler designed the interior space and students of the Department of Architecture carried out the renovation during the summer as a design build class. The galleries were renovated in 2005 and the Children’s Studio has been renovated and expanded from 2012-2015. Work on collections storage spaces and additional studio facilities are ongoing.
The university supports basic facilities fees as well as two full-time and one part-time staff position. Funding for exhibition programming and additional personnel is generated through grants, individual and corporate memberships, student fees, and special events sponsored by the Prichard Art Gallery Advisory Board.
