UI High School Art Exhibition

25th Annual High School Art Exhibition: Human Rights Aesthetic

February 24 - March 8, 2016
Awards reception: February 26, 3 - 5 p.m.
Ridenbaugh Hall Gallery

This year's theme is "I Am Me." High school is a time for discovering who we are and who we want to be. We develop talents, interests, strengths, friendships, and most important, our hopes and dreams for the future. Everyone has a unique story to tell and discovering our own story helps us grow. Where does our family come from? Where is our place? What makes me “me?”

It is through the arts that we connect with our dreams, gain insight in to personal experiences common to us all, and appreciate global culture and diversity. The arts convey knowledge, meaning and skills not learned in other subjects. Learning in the arts leads to more flexible approaches in problem solving, a greater willingness to take risks, and gives expression to human feelings and spirit. Our theme is rich with visual implications and can be interpreted literally, metaphorically or whimsically. We hope this theme about self-identity will generate lots of good artwork.
