Ways to Make an Impact

A gift to the Vandal Scholarship Fund is a gift to the University of Idaho.  Fully funding the VSF remains the #1 fundraising priority of Vandal Athletics as 100% of every donation to the VSF is used for student-athlete scholarships.

Few giving opportunities give you the ability to support the academic institution you love along with the sports programs that are your passion.  Every student-athlete that puts on a Vandal uniform is pursuing a world class education at the University of Idaho.  Dollars raised by the Vandal Scholarship Fund go directly back to the University of Idaho by paying for tuition and fees for our student-athletes.  Every dollar goes back to the colleges and units where our student-athletes are pursuing a degree.

In the upcoming year, UI Athletics' scholarship obligation will surpass $3.4million.  A fully funded VSF will give Rob Spear flexibility to allocate dollars to other areas of need.  A shortfall means that funds need to be carved out of operations in order to meet the scholarship obligation.

Support the VSF by making a gift today.  Click on the “MAKE A GIFT” link on the right sidebar and support Vandal Athletics and the University of Idaho.

VSF giving levels are structured in ways that illustrate clearly how your philanthropy benefits our student-athletes:

 Scholarship Circle
Funds a full scholarship for one student-athlete
University $10,000 Funds room and board and textbooks for one student-athlete
Gold $5,000-$9,999 Funds one or two semesters of tuition and fees for one student-athlete
 President's Circle

 Athletic Director

Charitable gifts are the lifeblood of the VSF.  The following are some examples of ways you can make a tax deductible gift to support the Vandals.

Expendable annual gifts form the bedrock of financial support for our athletic programs.  To make a gift online via credit card, please click on the “MAKE A GIFT” link on the right sidebar.  If you would like to mail a check, please make it out to Vandal Scholarship Fund and send to:

If you are employed by a company that matches charitable gifts, you can increase the value of your gift to the Vandal Scholarship Fund. While most employers’ programs double their employees’ gifts, some will triple or quadruple a gift to the VSF.  More than 1,000 parent companies and corporate foundations in the United States currently match their employees’ gifts to nonprofit organizations. Retired employees, employee spouses and corporate directors are also eligible to participate in many corporate matching gift programs.

Search the list of Matching Gift Companies.

To give a planned gift is to leave a legacy.  Gifts are funded with cash, equity, and/or property forming a long-term partnership between the donor and the VSF.  Planned giving often comes with valuable tax benefits including but not limited to:

·         Increase of current donor income

·         Reduction in donor's income tax

·         Avoidance of capital gains tax

·         Passing assets to family members at a reduced tax rate

·         Enormous benefit to the University of Idaho – its programs, scholarship and research efforts

Gifts include giving by wills, trusts, gift annuities and more.  For more information on planned giving, please contact Vandal Athletics Development at 208.885.0259 - or Robert Scholes, Associate Director of Gift Planning Services at 208.885.5371 -
