Curbside Consult for Opioid & Substance Use Treatment

Need a supportive space to ask questions and discuss treatment options for patients with opioid and substance use disorders?

ECHO’s Curbside Consult for Opioid & Substance Use Treatment is here to:

  1. Connect physicians and other healthcare professionals with experts in addiction medicine and behavioral health;
  2. Answer questions and provide quality feedback, suggestions, and support in real time.

Bring all your questions related to opioid and substance treatment, including those regarding the use of Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). Learn more about these brain-targeting medications (e.g., buprenorphine, methadone) and psychosocial interventions (e.g., counseling, therapy, skills development) aimed at improving treatment outcomes.

CME/CE credit is not available for this program.

Important X-Waiver Updates

With the signing of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 (the Act) on Dec. 29, 2022, Congress eliminated the “DATA-Waiver Program,” also known as the MAT Waiver or X-Waiver program. The DEA has consequently lifted the waiver requirements and eliminated the patient limits to prescribing medications for opioid use disorder. Beginning June 27, 2023, those who will be renewing or registering for a new DEA license will need to attest to a minimum of 8 hours of opioid or SUD training. This change will dramatically increase access to treatment across the country and hopefully help turn the opioid epidemic around.

If you’re seeking trainings related to opioid and substance use disorders, then join ECHO’s Opioids, Pain and Substance Use Disorders series and Counseling Techniques for Substance Use Disorders series. You can also listen to ECHO’s Something for the Pain podcast.

Now is the best time to drop-in during an ECHO Idaho Curbside Consult for Opioid & Substance Use Treatment session to get your MOUD-related questions answered.

12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Mountain time, first, third and fifth Thursdays of the month.

ECHO Idaho’s full series schedule is available here.

The target audience includes MDs, DOs, PAs, NPs, PharmDs, behavioral health specialists, and other healthcare professionals who are seeing and treating patients with opioid or substance use disorders.
