The Student Recreation Center, like the Idaho Commons, supports the "University Center" concept, aimed at creating a residential campus of choice at the University of Idaho.

The facility features two large gymnasiums, a multi-activity court with dasher boards, indoor running track, large cardiovascular and weight training areas, multi-activity rooms, classrooms, juice bar and locker rooms. In addition, the university's premier Outdoor Program will be located in the Student Recreation Center. The focal point of the project is a 55-foot-tall climbing pinnacle encased in a glass tower and visible from throughout the community.
