Safety
University Housing prides itself in being a safe community where students can succeed academically and personally. Safety of our students is very important to us, and we have several ways in which to keep residents safe while they are with us.
A Vandal Card is required to enter the residence halls, preventing outsiders from entering residence halls that they do not live in. Each resident’s card will be activated to only let them access their living area. University Housing has a policy that visitors in the residence halls must be accompanied by their host at all times. Any violations to this policy should be reported to University Housing. We also have surveillance cameras in the halls to ensure resident safety.
Each hall has its own resident assistant (RA). One of the responsibilities of an RA is to help resolve any issues that our residents may have. We also have professional staff members (resident directors) who live in the halls and can assist students with any issues they may have.
Our LLC 24-hour desk is also a resource for students. Staffed around the clock, student staff members can assist residents with lock-outs, disturbances, complaints, or any other issues that may arise. Students may call the 24-hour desk in an emergency: 208-885-7379, or they may stop by the desk for assistance.
The residence halls also have a very close relationship with the Moscow Police Department. The police department has a station about one block away from the residence halls, and police officers frequently visit the area to make sure everything is going well.
