Resident Services
Availability of Services
Mail services, key and card access, and game room services are all provided through Resident Services in the Wallace Residence Center and Living Learning Community information desks. The LLC 24-hour desk is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while the Wallace information desk is staffed during designated hours. You can reach the LLC information desk by calling (208) 885-7379.
Mail Services
Students living in Wallace Residence Center or Theophilus Tower have private mailboxes located next to the Wallace Residence Center information desk. LLC residents will receive their mail at their private mail boxes across from the LLC 24-hour desk. All on-campus residents will receive a package notification in their mailboxes when packages arrive.
All mail keys must be turned in at the end of the spring semester or at the time you check out of your room, whichever comes first. You may not keep your mail keys over the summer unless you are living here for the summer.
Mail Forwarding
Before leaving the residence halls, it is important that you leave a forwarding address using our online system. If you do not leave a forwarding address, all mail sent to your mailbox will be returned to sender. When using the online system, do not use the # sign, abbreviations, or punctuation marks. Follow these instructions:
- Go to the VandalWeb website
- Log in, go to "Personal Information/Address Menu"
- Go to "Update Address(es) and Phone(s)"
- Scroll down to "Type of Address to Insert"
- Do -NOT- click on United States Postal Service
- Select "Short-Lived Summer Address"
- Click on SUBMIT even if you aren't coming back for next semester!
- Fill in the blanks with your summer address, and click on SUBMIT.
- Return your mail key to the appropriate desk where you pick up your mail. Failure to return your mail key will result in a $55 non-refundable charge to your student account.
Your mail will be forwarded to the address which you put as "Short-Lived Summer Address." Info desks at Wallace and LLC do NOT need a printed copy of this.
Keys and Locks
Students will be issued a room key or room/suite access on their Vandal Cards when they check into the residence halls. They will also receive Vandal Card access to the exterior building doors. Students should lock their doors at all times and are not permitted to lend room keys and/or Vandal Cards to other students.
Any resident who is locked out of his or her room or building may go to the Living Learning Community (LLC) 24-hour information desk and check out a spare key/temporary access card. After the third lock-out of the semester, the resident may be contacted by a residence life staff member to assess the situation, and disciplinary action may be taken. Lock-out keys not returned on time may result in room locks being changed and the student may be charged for parts and labor. The student will be charged $20 for each temporary card that is not returned on time.
Any resident unable to come to the LLC 24-hour desk may call (208) 885-7379 to have a staff member help them access their room or building.
If a student loses their Vandal Card, they are responsible for immediately reporting the loss to the Vandal Card office in the Student Union Building or online at VandalWeb. Once reported lost, the card will be inactivated so that no one else can use it. If students lose their room keys, they are responsible for immediately reporting the loss to the LLC 24-hour desk.
LLC Locks
To assist you in protecting your personal property, you will be provided electronic card access to your suite/room when you check in. In the event that you become locked out of your suite or room, you must go to the LLC 24-hour desk and log into Banner (student registration screen) so the staff member can verify who is requesting a temporary card. This temporary card is only good for 24 hours. You must either return the temporary card when you have found your Vandal Card or come to the Vandal Card office and have a new card made with a new access code. After the fifth lock-out of the semester, the resident may be contacted by their area coordinator to assess the situation.
The only exception would be if the student just got out of the shower and is not able to reach his/her clothes. In that case only, the area coordinator or resident assistant on duty will let them in and then verify their ID once they have accessed the suite/room. The first time is free, but each time after that, there will be a $10 charge.
You will be charged $15 for each lost card, including the temporary card if it is not returned on time.
Locking Drawers
Each room in Wallace Residence Center and Theophilus Tower has two locking drawers (one for each roommate). If you have an assigned single, you could use both drawers for yourself. This drawer is intended for storage of valuable items such as wallets, CDs, credit cards or passports. If the key is not returned at the time you move or change rooms or check out of your room, there will be a lock/key replacement fee. The keys to these drawers should be picked up at the LLC 24-hour desk.
