A Recognizable Figure: Lucia Sanchez
Lucia Sanchez continues to be an active leader on campus and a role model for Residence Hall students.
Sanchez currently serves as the Theophilus Tower Area Assistant (AA) for University Housing, where she oversees 12 Resident Assistants (RA) and 4 Academic Programming Assistants (APA).
Sanchez says she enjoys her role as the Tower AA because, "I like helping RA's come up with different programs to help their residents."
Entering her third year as a leader in the Residence Halls, Sanchez has previously served as an RA and Service Programming Assistant (SPA) for University Housing.
In the SPA position, Sanchez has coordinated the annual Paint The Palouse community service project for the past two years.
Sanchez said this years Paint the Palouse "was great because there was a lot of collaboration from living groups and a bigger variety of volunteers campus wide."
Being a leader in the Residence Halls, along with her involvement in numerous community service projects campus wide, has made Sanchez a recognizable figure on campus.
So recognizable in fact that she was recently elected a nominee for Homecoming Queen.
About her nomination, Sanchez said "I am excited to represent the Residence Halls because I am the only female representing them this year and I think this will give other students more encouragement to do the same in the future."
Sanchez is not only representing the Residence Halls as a Homecoming Queen nominee this week, but also helped lead the Theophilus Tower team to win the Homecoming "Yell Like Hell" competition this past Sunday.
"I am also looking forward to participating in the parade, by submitting a tower float, and for the other Homecoming events this week," Sanchez said.
University Housing is proud to recognize Sanchez for her hard work and dedication to the Residence Halls and University of Idaho Campus.
