Diversity Initiatives
Diversity and Inclusion Statement
At the University of Idaho, University Housing recognizes and values the diversity across our campus and within our communities. We endeavor to create inclusive and supportive communities to ensure that all residents feel valued and a true sense of belonging within the community.
Welcoming All, Celebrating Both Differences and Commonalities
University Housing welcomes students of all ages, sex, ability, color, race, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, socioeconomic background, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, religion, faith, marital/family status, and veteran status. We are committed to celebrating the differences as well as the commonalties that students within University Housing share.
Expectations and Challenges
University Housing expects all staff members and challenges all residents to leave “no room for hate” in their communities. Discrimination, bias-related harassment, hate crimes, or the creation of hostile environments will not be tolerated. Incidents that conflict with this statement will be responded to accordingly by staff as it pertains to University Housing policy and the Student Code of Conduct.
Awareness and Acceptance
We respect that students living within University Housing come from varied backgrounds, with different levels of awareness and acceptance of diversity. We encourage residents to learn and grow in their communities, and we are committed to providing opportunities for residents to gain knowledge and skills to further develop their understanding of diversity. We do this to empower students to apply this understanding to their personal, academic, and professional lives. The purpose of this commitment is to support every student’s personal and academic success while at the University of Idaho.
