Roommate Finder
Roommate Finder Now Available
This Roommate Finder system is designed to assist current residence hall students in their search for compatible roommates to live in University Housing another year. Participation in this system is completely voluntary and can be completed in 3 simple steps: View detailed instructions and screenshots
Step 1: Create your Profile
The publish your ad for free button allows you to create a profile. First, you will be able to categorize your profile under the community you are interested in living. You will then fill out a summary section and your contact information followed by responding to a series of required questions ranging from your living habits to extracurricular interests. Upon submission of your profile, you will get an email notification that will allow you to edit or delete your profile at any time.
Step 2: Search and Communication
Review different profiles from other students in need of roommates through searching the community you want to live in. Communicate with the students you are interested in living with via the contact student section on the right hand side of the page. Once you contact the student they will get an email notification where the two of you can continue to communicate.
Step 3: Confirm and Reserve your Room
Once a mutual agreement has been made to become roommates, be sure to deactivate your profile so that others still looking will not contact you. Both you and your preferred roommate will then complete the room selection process together on the University Housing website. Click the renew your housing button on the right hand side, under the Current Students tab to begin.

Be aware that the LLCs consist of seven buildings for sophomore and above students. Three of these are home to Housing's Honors, Engineering, CNR, and MOSAIC LLC buildings. If you are interested in living in one of these three communities, you and your roommate must be in either the Engineering or CNR College or fulfill the requirements of the Honors building. Student interested in the Honors building must have a minimum UI GPA of 3.3 or be a student in the University Honors Program. MOSCAIC is open to all students who have an interest and willingness to embody, learn, and enact social justice in their lives.
