Production Opportunities
Numerous productions opportunities are available throughout
the school year with the department's Mainstage Season,
Idaho Repertory Theatre and the Arena Series of the Student
Theatre Organization. Production work helps students foster
a close working relationship with faculty, and enable the
kind of growth that comes through working collaboratively
with fellow students and professional artists.
Selection of plays, casting and tech crewing include a
careful assessment of individual needs and progress. For
BFA and MFA students, productions are considered a vital
component of their practicum requirements for performing,
directing and designing.
Credit is available for production work. Enrollment in
Thea 103, 104, 190, 340 (see course catalog) requires lab
time spent working on construction crews in the shops and
running crews during shows. Occasionally, we offer independent
study credit for production work. BFA students are required
to complete at least one credited production assignment
per semester, and are encouraged to consult their faculty
advisor with questions about opportunities for credit.
