In 1997, the Jacklin Land Development Company of Post Falls, Idaho gave 28 acres of prime real estate to the University of Idaho Foundation for the creation of the University of Idaho Research Park. In 2002, the first building was completed and an additional four acres were transferred to the University. The Research Park was designed to link the University and business and commercial uses, physically and programmatically.
