This event is jointly sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students and the Women’s Center, under the leadership of the Non-Traditional Student and Student Parent Program Assistant. Together these persons and agencies strive to provide assistance for non-traditional students through outreach, support, and program planning.
The University of Idaho housing fair is a part of this effort to provide assistance for non-traditional students and their families. With non-traditional learners currently account for an estimated 20-40% of the undergraduate student population it is vital to understand their unique needs and circumstances. For instance, almost all non-traditional students are pursuing their education on top of demands outside the classroom including families and work. These demands take ample amounts of time and energy and can make the transition into a classroom difficult. Recognizing these strains, a primary goal of the housing fair is to simplify the process of searching for housing. While the UI Housing and Off-campus Living Fair was originally conceptualized to accommodate non-traditional students, everyone is welcome. The services and properties present at the housing fair will be of interest to all students and community members seeking housing in the Moscow-Pullman area. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak to representatives from local rental companies, realtors, and University Housing as they showcase some of the properties that will be available for the upcoming academic school year. This serves as the perfect opportunity to compare multiple properties and ask questions about square footage, amenities, and pet policies without having to make multiple appointments and drive all over town.
