SOCIAL MEDIA AND OUTREACH ASSISTANT | JOB ID # 31547

Join the Women’s Center for this exciting work study opportunity, where you will hone your communication and organizational skills! In this 10 hour/week work-study assignment, you will be responsible for assisting the staff of the Women’s Center in a variety of program and educational outreach efforts, including helping to coordinate Women’s Center social media efforts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest). This position will also write a timely article on gender-related issues for the Women's Center blog every other week. If you are interested in communication, are a motivated self-starter, and a people person, this work study position is perfect for you! 


WOMEN’S CENTER OFFICE ASSISTANT | JOB ID # 31467

Join the Women’s Center for this exciting work-study opportunity to experience the workings of a fast-paced Student Affairs office, where we provide programming and support services to all students on campus. In this 10 hour/week work-study assignment, you will assist office staff with the daily operation of the Center, including maintenance of our library (shelving books, new book processing, checking out books, etc.), distributing flyers promoting Women’s Center and other co-sponsored events, greeting and assisting visitors to the Center, maintaining the Center’s bulletin boards, processing mail, making photocopies, ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of the Center, and participating in special programs and events such as our Open Houses, Women’s History Month, and other activities of the Center. In addition to your duties as office assistant, you will also assist with the coordination of the Center’s Service Learning students and Volunteers. If you are interested in Student Affairs and support services, and want to learn more about women’s and gender issues, this position is for you! 


MENTORING PROGRAM ASSISTANT | JOB ID # 31487

Join the Women’s Center for a stimulating educational experience! This is a great opportunity for professional development. You will strengthen your computer skills and improve your planning, communication, and multi-tasking abilities. In this 10-hour/week work-study assignment, you will assist with the coordination and group event programming for the Women’s Mentoring Program. Available to students, faculty, and staff, you will help recruit and match mentors and mentees, plan training sessions and additional mentoring events throughout the academic year, and facilitate bi-monthly communication with mentoring program participants. You will also contribute to other Women’s Center events and activities, helping with promotional materials, program logistics, and event planning. If you are interested in working with diverse groups, are motivated, and enjoy meeting new and interesting people, this is the job for you!


WOMEN’S CENTER EVENTS & PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT | JOB ID # 31548

Join the Women’s Center for this exciting work study opportunity, where you will hone your communication and organizational skills! In this 10-hour/week work-study assignment, you will assist the Women’s Center’s Assistant Director for Programs in conceptualizing, planning, and implementing exciting and innovative programs and events for UI students and faculty and staff, and local community members. You will assist with monthly and annual programs that may include scheduling meetings, arranging for film showings, tabling, selling tickets, distributing promotional material, and other activities. You will also be helping with designing flyers, writing press releases, contacting guest speakers and other facilitators, and arranging for meeting/event space. If you are interested in working with diverse constituencies, are a self-starter, enjoy motivating others, and would like to learn more about gender and equity issues, this work-study position is perfect for you! 


GRAPHIC DESIGN ASSISTANT | JOB ID # 31527

Join the Women’s Center for this exciting work study opportunity, where you will hone your graphic design skills! In this 10-hour/week work-study assignment, you will assist the Women’s Center in developing and producing informational and marketing materials such as posters, banners, flyers, table tents, flat screen displays, website, e-mails, and other visual outreach tools. The primary responsibility for this position is promoting and leading the marketing activities for the UI Women’s Center by producing visual and other promotional materials for the UI campus and larger community, under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Programs. You should possess good knowledge of: standard office software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, and desktop publishing (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop preferred). This position requires familiarity and skill with using desktop publishing software, especially Adobe Illustrator, to develop visual informational items such as posters. If you are interested in working with diverse constituencies, are a self-starter, enjoy motivating others, and would like the opportunity to develop and enhance your design portfolio, this work-study position is perfect for you! 


SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAM ASSISTANT | JOB ID # 31567

Join the Women’s Center for this exciting work study opportunity where you will hone your communication and organizational skills! In this 10-hour/week work-study assignment, you will assist the Women’s Center in conceptualizing, planning, and implementing exciting and innovative programs and events relating to gender-based violence for UI students and faculty & staff, and local community members, these events include, but are not limited to, programs like The Vagina Monologues and Take Back the Night. You will work closely with the Assistant Director of Programs, as a secondary Program Assistant; assisting with monthly and/or annual programs that may include scheduling meetings, arranging for film showings, tabling, selling tickets, distributing promotional material, and other activities. You will also be helping with designing flyers, writing press releases, contacting guest speakers and other facilitators, and arranging for meeting/event space. You will be a liaison to different offices and task forces on campus, e.g. the Consent is Sexy, Green Dot, and It’s On Us campaigns. If you are interested in working with diverse constituencies, are a self-starter, enjoy motivating others, and would like to learn more about gender and equity issues, this work-study position is perfect for you!
