Fraternity Parent Orientation

  • If your student has signed up for fraternity recruitment, both the student and parent(s) are registered for orientation through this process. There is no need to register/pay a second time using the New Student Orientation website.

    Hear about campus life and being a Vandal Parent.
    Student Union Building Ballroom
    4:45 p.m. Information Session
    Parents break-out into small groups for useful workshops on a variety of issues including Academic Success, Financial Matters, Life on Campus, Student Wellness, and Academic Advising.

    5:30 p.m. Information Session
    Choose from a second of the five presentations.

    6:00 p.m. Family Barbecue

    Enjoy barbecue fare with all parents and recruitment participants at a fraternity house.

    Please note that this schedule is subject to change. Students and parents will receive the final schedule when they arrive on campus and check in.

An Overview of Topics Included in Fraternity Parent Orientation:

  • Introduction to Greek Life-This session will focus on the benefits of Greek Life and the Recruitment process.
  • Letting Go...Change-This is an exciting time for you and your family, as you leave your son in Moscow to become an independent adult. This session will involve discussion about the changes happening in your family and in your student.
  • Academic Success: Information Session-Learn how to support your student through their academic challenges and triumphs. Parents can be important partners in helping students get to the right resources on time.
  • Financial Issues: Information Session-This session will focus on the issues surrounding financing a college education. Bring all your questions about student and parent loans, student employment, grants and scholarships, and financial aid general questions.
  • Campus Life: Information Session-Adjusting to college life provides challenges to many students. This session will focus on some of the challenges your son may face and how you can help make his transition to the University a smooth one.
  • Student Wellness: Information Session-A wide variety of physical and mental health services are offered at UI's Health Center and Counseling and Testing Center. This session will share resources about services offered.
  • Barbecue at Chapter Houses - Join your son for dinner at one of the chapter houses.
