New Student Orientation:

Fraternity/Sorority Parent Orientation: 

  • Sorority Parent Orientation will be held on August 14.
  • Fraternity Parent Orientation will be held on August 20.
  • If your student has signed up for sorority or fraternity recruitment, both the student and parent(s) are registered for orientation through this process, and there is no need to register for orientation a second time using the New Student Orientation website's online sign-up form.

    This required session for Tower and WRC-Wiley 1st & 2nd floor residents will provide info about the Vandal EDGE program and the new Academic Success Center. Meet the Residence Life and Academic Success Center staff, and learn how they will help you have a successful year.

    Attend your first service project and participate in tree planting, watershed restoration, elementary school repairs, food drive efforts, trail maintenance, and much more! This is an excellent way to get to know other new students and your new city. Attend the session assigned to your living group. All new students are encouraged to attend.

    For students with children: Staff from the UI Children's Center will provide child care for the session on Saturday, August 23 at 2:00-5:00 pm in a room adjacent to the orientation presentation room. To sign up for the child care, please email orientation@uidaho.edu by August 15 and indicate your children’s ages, names and any disability accommodations needed.

    Meet up with the Orientation Leader team to scope out where your classes are.  Make sure to bring your class schedule.
    Meet on the Theophilus Tower Lawn
    4:30 p.m. Vandal Walk and President's Barbecue:
    New students gather in the Kibbie Dome where they are met by the UI President, UI Football Coach, campus leaders, the UI Vandal Marching Band and Spirit Squad. Learn the Fight Song and be in the incoming class "I" formation photo. The first 1000 new students receive a Vandal Game Day t-shirt, then the president leads you through campus with your fellow new students to the Administration Lawn where faculty and staff are waiting to serve you dinner. This is your official VANDAL WALK into campus.

    6:30 p.m. LGBTQA Ice Cream Social
    The LGBTQA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, asexual, and ally) Ice Cream Social is a great way to meet new people, learn more about the LGBTQA Office and community at the University of Idaho, and enjoy delicious frozen treats. Everyone is welcome!
