Focus On Success: First Year Transition
Focus on Success: First Year Transition is a program available to first-year students in Fall semester. It is an excellent way to begin your college career. You will make new friends, learn your way around campus, and find out about all of the services available to UI Vandals.
This extended orientation program is designed to help you be a success from the moment you arrive on campus. You will be part of a small group of students, led by your experienced peer facilitator, who will introduce you to the university and guide you through your first eight weeks of the semester.
How does it work?
This one-credit, eight-week, graded course will guide you through a variety of activities to set you up for success as a new student. By the end of the eight weeks, students will have developed a college success plan with long and short-term goals.
Who can sign up?
Focus on Success: First Year Transition is designed for students directly from high school who would like additional support and a leg up on campus resources an opportunities. The program emphasizes a cross section of freshman with class sizes between 15-20 students.
